Jennifer Nelson Jennifer Nelson
Chief Development Officer

Jennifer is an accomplished fundraiser with 25 years of varied development and communications experience. She spent 22 years at a regional community foundation in Minnesota with increasing responsibilities through her tenure. Prior to moving to SWFL she managed and grew her team from two to four, was part of the organization’s leadership team and expanded fundraising and communication’s efforts for the foundation. Her experience includes endowment campaigns, program fundraising and sponsorship, planned giving, communications, volunteer board management, grant writing, and event planning.

More recently she was the Director of Advancement at New Horizons of SWFL in Bonita Springs and supported a team of two and eventually three overseeing the nonprofit’s fundraising, events, grants and communications. She was also part of the leadership team.

Jennifer has extensive knowledge and experience in fundraising, stewardship efforts and communications. Working closely with staff, board, committees and partners she has steadily increased financial resources for her various organizations as well as honed communication’s efforts.

Jennifer holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. She has continued her learning about the field of philanthropy through course work including Brisk Walk Through the Basics: a seminar on planned giving, as well as course work in grant writing through the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She has also served as a board member on the Minnesota Gift Planning Association and was a member of the statewide Minnesota Leave A Legacy committee.

Jay Duggan Jay Duggan
Launch Legacy - Consultant

Jay Duggan is the founder and CEO of Launch Legacy Consulting. He has over twenty-eight years’ professional experience, sixteen in the financial services industry as a financial/insurance advisor for individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits and school systems. For the past twelve years Jay has worked as a frontline fundraiser in major gifts, planned giving and a consultant with several large nonprofits including the University of Georgia, Operation Blessing and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Jay recently furthered his specialization in planned giving through the designation of Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® from The American College of Financial Services.

Jay prides himself in cultivating authentic relationships with donors and working with them in such a way that they experience the joy of giving. Throughout his professional career he has enjoyed mentoring, teaching, and training others as a component of his work. He has trained one-on-one with major gift officers, planned giving officers, nonprofit CEOs, and Board members, and led trainings on a statewide, regional, and national basis.

About Launch Legacy Consulting, it offers a unique fundraising solution for small to mid-sized nonprofits that desire to build a legacy giving program. Many nonprofit leaders know that we are experiencing the greatest wealth transfer in history, and they want their organization to be a part of it, but they do not have the training or experience to build a planned giving program. Our firm’s concept was created when several non-profit leaders came to me with a simple request: help us build out a legacy giving program for our organization.

My firm believes it’s most effective to work with a limited number of select nonprofits at a time. The “fractional-professional” concept keeps the services affordable while providing the planned giving guidance and support needed for nonprofits to experience success. My services include one-on-one visits with donors, in-person Board or staff trainings, donor-visit coaching, assistance in building out a marketing plan and more. With Launch Legacy Consulting, I hope that you consider me a part of your development team, specifically assisting you in connecting with donors and inspiring them to be generous with their legacy goals.

Jay has been married for thirty years to his wife Cherie, who works in development for All God’s Children serving throughout the southeast. They have five children, three of whom were adopted from Ethiopia. Their shared interests include the National Parks, the Bay View Association, Walt Disney World, traveling, and Pickleball.
